The first day of September saw the coming together of some Delhi food bloggers and critics, at a fun event hosted by Borges Olive Oil at 19, Oriental Avenue, Shangri-La's Eros Hotel, New Delhi. Borges is the largest exporter of Olive oil from Spain and is fast expanding its' presence in the Indian market with its' array of Olive oils suited to Indian cooking.
The Delhi bloggers that attended were Sid of Chef at Large, Deeba of Passionate about Baking, Pamela of Eat and Dust, Nachiketa of Crazy over Desserts, Anoothi of Indian Food and Travel Guide, and me. Apart from us, also present were noted food critics Marryam Reshii and Rahul Verma (also a blogger), Nutritionist Ritika Samaddar, Executive Chef (Shangri-la) Darren Conole, and Borges MD Rajneesh Bhasin.
Called "Olive Oil in Mediterranean and Indian Cuisine", the event kicked off with an interactive session on Olive oil and it's use in Indian cooking, which is a rapidly increasing phenomenon. With each of us sharing our experiences with Olive oil and how we like to use it, some of us learnt of new ways to use our favorite EVOO - like dipping our humble rotis sprinkled with salt into olive oil!
Alongside our animated chatter, we also tasted Borges EVOO, that was passed around with some yummy bread. Chef Darren and Sid whipped up some mean Aioli while the discussion was at it's peak, something I am sure everyone was grateful for!
Following the conversation on Olive oil, it was time for an impromptu cooking session and a few of us tried our hand in the open-format kitchen. Of course, we are allowed to enter only after safely securing our hair!
Lunch followed soon after, a sumptuous three-course Mediterranean meal cooked in Borges olive oil. To read more about the food and get the recipes, check out Deeba's post.

Awesome! I hope something like this happens in Bangalore. I am a novice though. I'll just attend and eat all the good food. :)
